IMPROVING GOLFERS WITH CLEAR, PRACTICAL COACHING

Golf can be one of the most rewarding games in the world, but it can also be incredibly frustrating when progress feels slow or your swing doesn’t perform the way you expect it to.

Many golfers spend years chasing tips and quick fixes without ever truly

understanding their swing. My goal is simple: help golfers understand their game, make the right changes and improve through clear, practical coaching.

By focusing on the fundamentals that actually influence performance, I helpplayers control ball flight, practice with purpose and enjoy the game more.

My Story

How It Started

I began my golfing journey at 13 and quickly became obsessed with the game. What began as a hobby soon turned into countless hours of daily practice, learning, and competing. By the age of 16, I had reached a scratch handicap while being mentored by some of Scotland’s leading coaches.

Playing Career

After leaving school at 18, I played golf full time and my playing career progressed rapidly. I reached a +6 handicap, became a full Scottish Men’s International, competed in tournaments around the world, achieving multiple wins and top finishes in elite amateur events. Becoming one of the top players in the country. I was utterly devoted to becoming the best player I could be.

The Move Into Coaching

Alongside my passion for playing, I developed an equally strong passion for helping others improve through a part-time job as a personal trainer during the winter months to help fund my playing career. This eventually led me to enrol on the PGA Training Programme and pursue coaching, where I applied the same obsession and work ethic that I had as a player to developing my coaching skills.

Developing My Coaching Expertise

Over the years, I’ve studied and learned from some of the game’s top coaches including Ian Rae, Hugh Marr, Ian Clarke, Alan McCloskey and Sam Truman, while also studying multiple swing systems including Stack & Tilt, MORAD, Plane Truth and The Golfing Machine.

Throughout my PGA training, I coached full-time at The 3 Hammers Golf Academy whilst simultaneously working with golfers worldwide through online coaching. I also expanded my expertise beyond swing mechanics by gaining a Level 4 Strength & Conditioning qualification, allowing me to better understand how golfers move and perform physically. Across thousands of lessons, I’ve continually tested ideas, refined my coaching approach, and developed a simple 4-step coaching system tailored to every golfer I work with. I now coach golfers in more than 17 countries worldwide and remain as passionate as ever about improving the quality of my coaching. I genuinely love helping golfers achieve things in this game they once thought weren’t possible.

My Coaching Philosophy

Every aspect of my coaching is designed to optimise your game, giving you clear direction on what to work on, how to train it effectively and why it matters.

My coaching is built around a simple, structured 4-step system designed to help golfers improve in a measurable and sustainable way.

My coaching focuses on

Clarify Intent

First, we establish what you’re trying to do with the golf ball, whether that’s playing a draw or fade, trajectory, strike. We build a style of play that suits your game.

Build The Right Foundations

Your setup must match your intent. Grip, alignment, posture, ball position and clubface conditions all influence how the club moves and how the ball behaves.

Develop The Swing

Technical changes are introduced in a simple, manageable way without overwhelming the player. The goal is to create understanding, not confusion.

Train Performance

Technical improvements only matter if they transfer to the golf course. That’s why Golf IQ, skill development, decision-making, practice planning, and performance habits are all integrated into the coaching process.

Why This Works

Most golfers struggle not because they aren’t working hard enough, but because they lack clarity, structure, and a practice process that transfers to the course. My coaching is designed to simplify improvement and provide golfers with a clear roadmap for long-term progress.

Whether you’re a beginner or elite player, the goal remains the same: creating lasting improvement through structure, understanding, and measurable progress.

A Personal Approach To Coaching

No two golfers are the same. Every player has different movement patterns, tendencies, learning styles, and goals — which is why I don’t believe in forcing golfers into a single method or swing model.

Understand The Player First

Before making changes, we first build an understanding of how and why your swing currently functions the way it does. Identifying the true cause of ball flight patterns allows improvement to happen with far more clarity and direction

Coaching Built Around You

The coaching process is always adapted to the player in front of me. Your swing, physical capabilities, skill level, tendencies, time constraints and goals all influence the direction we take.

Improvement That Transfers On Course

Technical changes alone don’t create better golfers. Practice structure, skill development, Golf IQ and performance training are all integrated into the process to ensure improvement actually transfers onto the golf course.
